On Wednesday, September 11, United Way of Saginaw County proudly announced the launch of its newest AmeriCorps program, the Healthy Kids Healthy Futures Partnership.
This new program is designed to keep children safe, promote healthy lifestyles, increase collaboration among community agencies and to encourage the sharing of scarce community resources.
The Healthy Kids Healthy Futures Partnership brings together 10 key community agencies. These agencies consist of: Boys & Girls Club, CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region, First Ward Community Service, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, Hidden Harvest, Neighborhood House, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America – Water & Woods Field Service Council, Youth Protection Council and YMCA of Saginaw.
Alongside these agency partners, the Michigan State Police and Saginaw Valley State University will also play a critical role in the success of the program. “This is really a great opportunity, especially for the Saginaw community. It’s just an amazing way that I can give back to my community,” said Heather Duyck, a Saginaw Valley student and AmeriCorps volunteer.
Thank you to all the volunteers and agencies involved in ensuring programs like Healthy Kids Healthy Futures exist. Your help allows these programs to make a positive impact the community of Saginaw County.
