On Wednesday, May 3, Saginaw County's best spellers gathered for Altrusa International of Saginaw/Rotary Club of Saginaw's 12th Annual Bee for Literacy. All the proceeds raised from the event will help support United Way's Imagination Library and Lexia literacy programs.
On Wednesday, April 26, Duro-Last Roofing Inc. members met at Brunkow SISD facility and moved to Claytor Head Start to engage in an Earth Day cleanup of the grounds. Members collected and disposed of litter, retouched the paint on external structures, and performed other maintenance tasks in honor of the 47th annual Earth Day
On Tuesday, April 25th, the United Parcel Service (UPS) and Teamsters Local 406 came together to construct an accessibility ramp for a disabled individual living in the Saginaw county community. Project Independence partners with local businesses and individuals to provide human and financial resources to fund the construction of ramps for low-income disabled residents within the local community. Last week, Michigan State Senator Ken Horn visited the Saginaw YMCA's after school STEM program (for more information on the Americorps STEM program, click here). These programs operate at over 10 locations throughout Saginaw County. Students attending this after school STEM session participated in activities that demonstrated the chemical household properties, such as soap. We believe programs such as these are vital to the community.
