Saginaw County has been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Saginaw County has been chosen to receive $106,107 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs (EFSP) within the county.

Throughout the month of February, the Saginaw News is hosting a book drive as a United Way partner. Bring new or gently used books to their office (100 S. Michigan, Ste. 3, in the Ippel Building in Old Town Saginaw). Their office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Our VITA site at Butman-Fish Library will be closed today, Monday, February 16. It is our policy that if the Public School Districts are closed due to weather related conditions; the VITA sites in that district are closed as well. The safety of our volunteers and tax payers is our number one concern. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to have sites open tomorrow.

Two VITA sites were scheduled to be open today, one at Butman-Fish Library and one at Frankenmuth Credit Union-Town and Country Branch (Saginaw). Unfortunately both of those sites will be closed on Tursday, February 3, 2015.
